The skirl of the Scottish Bagpipes has been a part of my life since I was a child. My Great Uncle was piper in the Gordon Highlanders in World War I and after emigrating to America he formed the first bagpipe band in Chicago. At age eight I started taking lessons from him and have played the pipes now for more than fifty years.
During that time, I have played in various venues from a bunker in Vietnam to the Symphony Center in Chicago and from the dugout at the old Comisky Park in Chicago to Gretna Green in Glasgow with many, many stops in between. I have had the privilege of performing as a featured soloist with the Grant Park Symphony and the Chicago Symphony Orchestras and have participated in Piping competitions as a member of two championship pipe bands.
