Timothy Yontz is Director of Bands and Head of Instrumental Studies for the Bower School of Music & the Arts at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida. Before joining the faculty at FGCU, Dr. Yontz served as Professor of Music Education and Symphonic Band conductor at Wheaton College in Illinois, Associate Director of Bands at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and Director of Bands and Coordinator of Fine Arts in Wisconsin and Indiana public schools.
While at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, he was Music Director of the Nebraska Wind Symphony, Omaha’s Community Concert Band. Dr. Yontz holds a Ph.D. in Administration, Curriculum, and Instruction in music from the University of Nebraska, Master of Music from Butler University (Indianapolis), and Bachelor of Music Education from Indiana University.
He is a member of the College Band Directors National Association, National Association for Music Education, Phi Beta Mu International School Bandmaster Fraternity, and is a recipient of the National Band Association’s “Citation of Excellence.” Dr. Yontz is an active guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator.
