Dr. Ryan Chapman is a highly sought-after lead trumpet player, arranger, band leader, educator, and producer. He is a recording artist on the Latin Grammy winning album Dr. Ed Calle Presents Mamblue, and can be heard on George Benson’s album Inspiration: A Tribute to Nat King Cole, Jazz & the Philharmonic with the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, and ‘Round Midnight with Tempest “Little Big Band.” He is an active performer and has led big bands such as the Auburn Knights Orchestra, Drive-By Big Band, and currently the Ryan Chapman Jazz Orchestra. He has recorded and played lead trumpet with Chick Corea, Terrence Blanchard, Steve Miller, Arturo Sandoval, and the Jaco Pastorius Word of Mouth Big Band. Dr. Chapman has also been featured with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Harry James Orchestra, Dr. Ed Calle’s Mamblue, Stardust Memories Big Band, Naples Brass, and Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra among many others.
Dr. Chapman is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers. His compositions and arrangements have been performed by Georgia State University Orchestra, University of Washington Studio Jazz Ensemble, Joe Gransden Big Band, Boise State University Orchestra, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Azamara Cruise Lines, Princess Cruise Lines as well as many others. As an educator, he is highly sought out as a clinician both regionally and internationally, working for music festivals such as the Lindenwood Jazz Festival, the Florida Bandmaster’s Association Jazz Music Performance Assessment, and Jazz Trumpet Festival Brazil among others. As a producer, Dr. Chapman maintains a home studio for recording and producing his own projects that feature the Ryan Chapman Jazz Orchestra and recording commercials for markets in Europe. He can be heard on the recently released soundtrack of an independent film in the Netherlands entitled Entertain Me.
